Song Structure

The piece I recorded to go over the montage scene had a very clear direction I was aware of before recording. I chose to record the backing rhythm using the Ditto Looper rather than record it separately in the H6 then layer parts later on. The reason I chose to do this was partly due to technical limitations. I don't have any audio interfaces or realistic way of getting my amp into the same room as my computer so I'm limited to the fidelity and control I have when recording. Everything I do it done live in as few a takes as possible.

However, when thinking about how to solve this problem I reevaluated what I was doing. The whole concept was to create an isolated, small and simplistic recording of guitars. Harkening back to the James Bay song I referenced earlier. So I thought I could just record the rhythm in the Looper and then in real time play the solo part over the top. This way I just had to record the once of the live take of the solo over the backing track that was being looped.

This proved a good way of doing things. I don't have quite as much control in post but it did create a very nice, simple, isolated feel that was of quite a skeletal structure. I think it lends itself to the section really nicely.
