As I mentioned in the last post I wanted to try to cut out any briefs that didn't have enough room for exploration and creativity. The briefs involving rebranding an existing product for a younger audience seemed a little stale and would come down to re-jigging what they already had in place and jazz it up a little. I wanted something I could sink my teeth into and delve into.
With this in mind these are the briefs that immediately caught my eye:
These three stood out to me as presenting an interesting and challenging opportunity, they also tied nicely into my passions of film/motion graphics. They all pose different challenges and require different skills which interests me a lot.
VICE are looking for a new ident for their "Rule Britannia" series. This is right up my street as my skills and passion lie in filmmaking and motion graphics. It is a really broad and engaging brief too as they want people to express themselves and bring some creativity to the table.
ID are looking for a subculture to be captured and displayed. This is a photography brief that is fairly straight forward but could be really interesting. It is an opportunity to showcase something usually kept quite out of the spotlight in an artistic way.
Monotype is a little more unclear for me. It sounds as though they are looking for a short motion graphics piece or perhaps a poster that promotes a retrospective screening of a famous directors film. You are only allowed to use type though. No images whatsoever. This sounds like it could be a really fun and engaging challenge.
As you can see all of these three briefs have some promise. They all have complexity and require some thought and exploration to create something truly unique that would stand out. They all have some meat to them and allow to really get stuck into them. I am not sure of which brief I am going to choose as of yet but I will address that in my next post.
