The D&AD

So, our second brief. This is a competition brief similar to the YCN brief we had last year although now the stakes a raised somewhat. The D&AD is a slightly more comprehensive, esteemed establishment and the award carries a little more weight. By proxy this means that the briefs that there are to choose from are a little more intense, thorough and open ended. There aren't the usual "we need you to do this and connect the dots". There is an end goal and purpose to the briefs but how tackle and accomplish the task is completely up to you which is pretty liberating.

So without further ado, here are the briefs:

This is obviously just a very brief summary of the briefs, each icon links to the full specifications and written out briefs. But this gives a decent, quick overview of what there is to choose from. Most of the briefs revolve around changing an existing concept they already have in place to appeal to a younger audience. However, as I mentioned before the options for you to explore are completely up to your own creativity and ability.

I wanted to steer clear of briefs like that though and look mainly at ones that need something creating to serve a purpose that was more open to complete creation and experimentation. The rebrand ones would be really challenging and interesting but I think that there is only so far you can feasibly take something like that whilst staying within the bounds of the company identity. I wanted to look for briefs with a little more ambiguity and room to explore. I'll explore this more in my next post.
