After some careful thought and consideration I have chosen to tackle the VICE brief. At the end of the day it just made the most sense for me to pursue it was a very close call though. Quite quickly I dismissed ID as photography wasn't something I wanted to dedicate all the time allocated to complete this brief to. Filmmaking and motion graphics are the industries I would most like to move into so it makes sense to tackle a brief that involved them in some way.
The Monotype brief was a very close contender though and it was honestly 50/50 for the longest time. To be truthful the Monotype brief seemed a little more daunting. It required a greater amount of experimentation and was a lot more of a leap of faith. The VICE brief, although creative and intricate, wasn't rehashing the very foundations of the methods used to create it (if that makes any sense). I knew where I stood to begin to work on the VICE brief. I could film things or use motion graphics. The Monotype brief required me to completely shift how I work and throw myself right into the deep end. Creating something entirely using typography would be a challenge.
However, I thought that the VICE brief was too good to overlook. Especially on somewhat of a gamble. It seems tailor made for me. Not only does it allow me to practice my filmmaking and motion graphics it also allows me to spread my wings and dabble once again in sound design more completely. Not to mention the fact that the second I read the VICE brief I got a complete idea leap right out the page into my brain. It just spoke to me in some way.
So that's that. I have chosen to do the VICE brief.
