The sheet I made of all the sound assets I needed to capture came in really useful. I was ticking off the sounds as I went and then after 3 or 4 were ticked off I realised I could also use it to make note of the actual sound file that was the best take and if there was a specific part I thought was good. I was capturing all the sound files in one day in one session and so it was inevitable that I wouldn't be able to remember which sound files were which and which parts of each take worked. So with that being said this is what the document looked like after recording was complete:
As you can see on the left hand margin lies the file number for the sound asset that was the best take for each asset. This came in immeasurably useful when it came time to implement the sounds in audition that evening. Because the list was in chronological order all I had to do was import all the assets into Audition then go through the film again in order. When I got to the sound mentioned on the sheet I just had to look at what number sound file the sound resides within and then drag that file onto the timeline and place it.
Having this sheet definitely sped up the whole process a huge amount and is something I will do for every foley project I have as it was so handy just being able to see where I was and what was left at a glance.
It was so handy to have and made the whole process a lot more effortless. Still time consuming. But a lot less confusing and uncertain.
