I am all ready to go. I have assembled all my gear and decided upon which mic to use. This is the gear I have selected to use:
I have a large diaphragm condenser mic and the Zoom H6 I am using also has various capsules to attach to the top of it which are really high quality. However, I decided upon the Rode NTG-2 that I have because all the audio on set was recorded using a shotgun mic and so the natural sound I would get from my shotgun mic would be closest to the original audio and as a result blend better.
Another reason is that I am going to have the mic on a boom pole on a shock mount I have from Rycote. I am going to be recording in a Guerrilla style just having everything about my person and so a shotgun mic will help to eliminate any unwanted noise that I might accidentally create. Luckily all the sounds I need to capture need to be captured from within my house and so there shouldn't be any crazy natural noises to dodge around. I just need to be careful of things like my boiler or any kitchen appliances that may hum of buzz.
But that's me all set. I have my gear and I have the settings I want to use to record so now it is time to make notes of everything I need to record.
