My Chosen Project

As I mentioned in the previous post. This project had to be something I was passionate about and something I was adept and skilled enough in to be able to fully utilise the eight weeks and create something to be proud of. With that in mind, my passions lie in film and motion graphics. I knew that my friend who is at Bournemouth university at the moment in creating a ten minute major film at the same time as this project is coming around for me and a perfect opportunity presented itself.

The part of the film process that interests me most is the post side of affairs. That is where I would be joining the project for this film. I would be conducting the entire post process for this film. It has already gone through pre-production and by the time I get to it will also have already been shot and had the audio recorded. I will be carrying out the entire edit along with all the VFX, credits and title sequence.

However, a part of film that has always really interested me but never something I have really been able to explore is the audial side. In all of my previous filming ventures we have never had the equipment or the time to properly execute audio and that is something I have always felt was missing. So for this project that will be my primary focus. I will be doing the full foley, and sound design for the film and mixing it all in Adobe Audition.

I will also be scoring the film with a custom soundtrack which is also going to be a new venture for me.

I decided to focus on the audio as I didn't just want to slip into familiar territory with the editing and the effects as whilst both are important they wouldn't do much to further my skills in the area. Whereas audio is something I am deeply interested in and something that I hope to pursue making it a valuable exercise to explore.

I will also be producing a marketing campaign for the film consisting of posters, trailers and branding guidelines. Before I can begin however, I need to write this up in a proposal and send it to my tutor.
