Logo Re-jigg

After looking at the wire framing and thinking about the website as a whole I have had a bit of a re-think about the logo design I showcased earlier. With all the space I plan to include and the open, simplicity of the site I think that a dark background colour might be a bit depressing and moody. It kind of conflicts with the overall feeling I want to communicate with the site.

With that in mind I had a play around with the colours for the logo. I am still really happy with the overall design and typography choices. I just think the colour palette was a little off. So this is the change I made:

As you can tell it is a lot brighter and more vibrant. I changed the background colour from a dark, dreary grey to solid white. I'm not sure if it is too intense so I might have to dial it back in the final design a little. I have also added more saturation and brightness to the yellow that the typography is written in. I think that this lends itself far better to the design of the overall site I have in mind and it also, objectively, looks nicer and more inviting I think. It get's away from the music clichés of having dark colours as well.

In conjunction with this I also made a really bright, colourful version just to try it out. I think that it actually works well:

This might be quite intense to colour the entire site this way but it is certainly something to think about. It could perhaps be used within the the white design here and there to add interest and vibrancy where it would perhaps otherwise be lacking.

So that is my slight re-brand. I really like and think that it works a lot better with the overall image I had in my head for this site. It was a simple tweak from the original:

But I think it's clear to see it has made a world of difference.
