Flow Diagram

I have a fairly firm idea of how everything will look and feel. I have, in my head, the sections I want/need to include and I can start to visualise the product. Whilst this is all well and good, it isn't crystal clear. The way to really solidify my ideas and prepare fully for producing the site is to get my ideas down somewhere. Get them out of my head and onto the page or screen through wire framing and flow diagrams. So, that is what I have done.

I produced the flow diagram first because it is a lot less intricate than wireframes and is a little quicker and easier to produce. Not to mention the fact that the flow diagram might influence the wireframes in some capacity.

I began this process by creating a quick sketch on some A4 paper: (Please excuse the abysmal quality of the image).

Now I should say first this isn't at all a final production of the flow diagram. I just merely wanted to list the pages I wanted to produce and get them down on paper. That way I could refine them over time and produce a more efficient flow digram. 

But anyway, this has all the pages and corners to the site I want to include. The order is obviously not correct and I'm not sure which ones will stay as main navigation pieces and which ones will end up being included in amongst some of the other headings.

From this diagram, I went into Illustrator and produced a more complete and correct flow diagram:

This is a tricky task as I haven't begun to create the website which will really help me see the flow and setup to the site and how much space I feel I can dedicate to certain areas. However, this is quite close to how I envisage the navigation structure looking and working. This allows space for everything required for the brief and presents it in a fairly ergonomic way. Most of the pages will be large pages that will incorporate a lot of information together and so some of the drop downs may end up being made redundant by becoming part of the parent page.

I think this is a pretty accurate representation of the navigation structure though. I want it to be simple and fairly quick to navigate due to the complete over complication of other musical sites as I have previously mentioned. It may however, still be subject to change as when the site begins taking shape something may raise it's head of course but for now, I am more than happy with the structure.
